The Aurora Awards is an international competition designed to recognize excellence in the film and video industries. Recognition is a big deal because all entries are judged by award-winning creative peers – some with 45 years of experience. To win means that your work has met their standard of excellence.
We are excited to announce that the Radius team has grown! Regina Milner joined our team in August of 2015, after having graduated from Georgia Regents University’s medical illustration graduate program in May.
We chose Regina because of her crazy unique ability to create surreal landscapes out of what would otherwise be been-there-seen-that macro and molecular storyboard environments.
See?! In short, she’s the shiz.
Each year, medical illustrators and animators from around the world gather at the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) Annual Conference to explore advancements, inspiration and ideas in the field of biomedical visualization. It’s also a place for everyone to display their work in the annual salon exhibition.
A panel of respected judges from within the field review all of the illustration, animation and interactive media submissions and bestow upon the best either an Award of Merit or Award of Excellence. To be presented with an award is recognized as a huge honor in the field.
This year Radius submitted five animations and one interactive app. We were thrilled to receive 3 Awards of Merit and 3 Awards of Excellence – an award for each entry. Below you can view scenes from each award winning piece.
The Telly Awards honors the very best film & video productions, online video content, and tv commercials and programs. Judges evaluate entries to recognize distinction in creative work, and they are judged against a high standard of merit. Winning entries are awarded a Silver or Bronze Telly – Silver being the highest honor. We were honored with one Silver and three Bronze Telly Awards for our work in the following categories: Use of Animation, Health and Wellness, and Pharmaceuticals.
We like to think that people enjoy working at Radius. And then one of them shows up wearing customized shoes.
Thank you Stefano Romeo (Radius’ Computer Support Specialist) for sharing your new kicks with the world.
We are psyched to announce that we have added another member to the Radius team. Mike Moran accepted the project manager position in March and has hit the ground running.
Mike graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s biomedical visualization program in 2009, and has been working in the field as an animator and art director for over five years.
Mike is a native of New York and a science and outdoor enthusiast. In his downtime, he likes to hike long distances. If you work with Mike on a project, make sure to ask him about the time he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in its entirety.
